Roof balustrade height. Shall be measured from the bhmp to the highest point of the roof excluding parapets and balustrades not exceeding 4 ft. Internally the height of the balustrade from the point that someone is stood on to the top of the balustrade should be a minimum of 0 9m. This means horizontal balustrades are not allowed to be used at this height and vertical balustrades should have no footholds. The height of a building permitted to be 90 ft. We find in most instances our customers prefer the balustrade to be 1000mm to 1100mm high on internal landings and around internal voids. This height must be maintained all the way around the top of the handrail.
For these decks the handrails must not have any climbable elements located between 150mm and 760mm of the floor. Decks four metres 4m from the ground or higher need to meet additional design requirements. Many customers find that although a 900mm balustrading guarding an internal landing or void meets regulations it doesn t feel or seem safe. Externally this height changes.
Exterior balconies roofs or terraces balustrades height for exterior balconies roofs or terraced areas the required height is 1 1 meters 1100mm from where you can stand on to the top of the handrail. As long as your balustrade meets this it will pass the building inspection. However you may find you want a taller balustrade.
